I am one of the two sons of Howard Wintle, who is also listed on this page somewhere. I don't recognize any of you other Wintles, sorry... Our bunch are all descended from the many Wintles who live in and around the Forest of Dean, near Bristol and the Welsh border in the United Kingdom. So there you go.

There are lots and lots of us and my mother, a genealogist, can fill you in on more details if you really want to know.

Oh yeah, one more thing - I'm NOT the same as the other Richard Wintle, who for many years lived in Amherstview, about 10 minutes drive away from my parent's home in Kingston.

What do I do now? Molecular biology, human genetics research and gene mapping. Sorry you asked?

URL=not yet!
This is the Mrs. typing this information as Dave istoo slow a typist. Dave is an electrician, wife Debbie, kids Nina, Tiffany & Charlie. Charlie was named after his great-grandfather, Charles E. Wintle, who happened to be born on the same day a year after Sr. Charlie's death! Charlie Sr. was a Chief Marine Engineer living in West Vancouver, BC. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 30, 1900. He was the eldest son, next was Howard, then Percy, sister Margaret, and the youngest was Clarence (known as Bill).

Charles Sr.'s dad was Ernest Charles Wintle, born in England somewhere (?)
Charlie Sr. had three sons, David, Thomas & Ron. David is a retired Stationary Engineer, retired from MacMillan Bloedell Paper Mill. Tom is a Chief Marine Engineer, semi-retired, works for Western Pulp, and lives in Squamish, British Columbia. (This is my Dave's dad). Then Ron is an Electrical Load Dispatcher, retired, living in Peachland, British Columbia.

Tom had three children. Dave, born August 12, 1958, Debbie, born July 22, 1959 and Richard, born June 5, 1960. Dave lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Debbie lives in Hawaii, and Richard lives in Victoria, British Columbia.

Dave is over 6'2". Are all the Wintles that tall? As Mrs. Wintle I have to tell you a cute story: when Grandpa Charlie passed away, we went to the funeral. All the family there were very, very tall, even the women. The only short Wintle Women there were the ones who married into the family!

My youngest daughter, Tiffany, started me on this famous Wintle kick, I know this is a little long but I don't know what other information you want or need.

Ciao, for now!

Sorry I can't remember the name of the author of the book. Should be in most libraries. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has info on the India branch of the family.

My name is Elizabeth Arlene Patterson nee Wintle. My parents are Fred (deceased) and Edna Wintle of Deloraine. I was born in Deloraine, MB. April 10, 1958. I do know some of the Dryden Wintles. Charlie and Bud Wintle would be my Dad's 1 st cousins. Their families used to visit with ours when we were kids growing up on the farm at Deloraine. Wintle seems to be a very unusual name until I looked it up on the internet and found so many names related to it. This could be very interesting! I know our family history goes back to Gloucestershire in England. That's all for now.

Christine Lynn Day Saskatoon SK e-mail URL N/A
I first became interested in family history a couple of years ago when my mom, my sister and I started to look at my dad's father's family the Tucker's. Unfortunately we have not had a whole lot of luck so we have changed trees for awhile. My paternal grandmother Isabelle Loweryson was the daughter of Catherine Wintle and William Loweryson Jr.. Catherine in turn was the daughter of John Wintle who was the son of Thomas Wintle who came to Canada in 1823 -24.
I grew up on a farm outside of North Battleford SK, where my parents still live. I would very much like to hear from any cousins as we are trying to flesh out the Wintle family tree a little more.

First Entry: My father is Earl Wintle, his father's name was Horace Wintle married Fernande Dumas. Horace had at least a sister Margeurite who married my grandmother's brother Leopold. She died within a few years later. They lived around St. Come, St. Georges, P.Q. he was born around May 1905. Other than this, I don't know too much Second Entry: The last entry I made was before I actually read your narative. Wow!!! My grandparents did indeed come from Beauce County. My father's name is Earl Louis Wintle. He is an alcholic as well as his father was. Horace died about 8 or 9 years ago. The info I have on him are sketchy. I found out that he had at least 1 sister as well I think he had a few brothers as well. When I was about 10 (33 years ago) I sort of remember my father trying to find his father. We had heard he was trying to dry out so ended up I think at one of his brothers place who I thing had a store or trading place in Maine??? We were on our our way to the east coast on a holiday. Anyway apparently the place he was staying at was hit by lightning and he disappeared. I once heard he was a rum runner. After being gone for awhile I think he showed up "in the bag" and my grandmother threw him out. She had 4 children. Ralph, Earl, Margeurite, and Paul. We saw the room he was in and beside the bed there was a huge burn mark coming up from the electrical socket. I remember them laughing about it and figured he would be going on a bender because it probably scared the @$*# out of him. I met him about a year before he died because I was curious as to what he was like. Compared to my Grandmother, I wasn't impressed. Anyway, other than this, I really don't have too much info on him. This web site is great. Very impressive.
Third entry

Joy Taber Orangeville Ontario e-mail URL N/A
Joy Taber again. I think I have some more history of my grandfather's family. His name is Horace b. May 10, 1905 (I think) His siblings (I think) are Eleona, Eliane, Ephrem, Pearl, Margeurite, Edna, Gemma. They were born in St. Georges, Beauce County, Quebec, Canada. Their parent's (I think) were Edward married Margaret Scully in August 1899 in St. Georges. His parents were ??? (link missing ?). Edwards grandfather was Thomas married Jane Martin married in Ireland (I assume died) later he married Rose Lachance in Aug 1800 in St. Georges. Can anyone confirm this or have any info regarding this family. My grandparent's Horace and Fernande were separated or divorced for as long as most people can remember. He was quite a drinker. Thanks, it's nice to see so many Wintle's out there.

My Grandmother was Daisy Wintle, originally from Gloucester England. Her siblings were Lionel, Harry, George and Lilian, and they lived in Deloraine Manitoba.
My grandmother had 4 children that lived, Marie (my mother) Joan, Fred and Donald. My mother, Marie, had 3 girls, Patricia, Maureen and Heather (me!).
My mother told me that her Uncle Lionel did a lot of work on the family tree, but that my grandmother wasn't particularly interested.
Of my grandmother's brothers and sisters, my Mum remembers the following:

Harry's children... maybe Harold, Charlie, Sid and Alice, in or around Dryden? Lilian married a Spence, and had Jean, Evelyn, Estelle and Orillia?

George was in Deloraine and had a son named Fred, and I think that they are still in Deloraine. Lionel lived somewhere in Western Canada and had a daughter named Diane.

I stumbled on this site by pure dumb luck after clicking on Garth's profile on the running room bulletin board by mistake. Saw the link to a "Wintle" website, and the fact that Garth was from Dryden, and decided to check it out since I knew that my Mum had relatives in Dryden. Heather MacDonald

Recieved a note from Uncle Sid. He told me about this page. I one of 2 daughters of Lionel Robert Wintle. Son of Fred. Brother of Henry. I will send the West Coast family tree to Sid. We are not too many. My Father came west in the early thirties to seek his fortune. I wish he had found it. Ordinary guy but very kind, funny and a raving socialist. He formed the Refrigeration Union in Vancouver after working in the trade for many years. His wife Margaret is 95. Losing memory but doing okay otherwise. There are not too many Wintles on the Coast so it is interesting to see how many have answered the call. Thanks for this Diane
