First some history
Near the end of June 2001 the Canada Coast Guard pulled all aids to navigation from the Wabigoon Chain of lakes. This was consistant with thier new policy in the early 90s to not maintain thse aids on inland waters.
These aids were originally placed to aid the paper company tug boats as they pulled log booms down the lake from Contact Bay and Dinorwic Lake.
They were never meant to completely mark all of the hazards on the lake but to define navigable channels in their journey.
This list of hazards is presented as information only. It is taken from local knowledge from various persons and myself, who maintained the aids for 9 years, along with Coast Guard information that may or may not be completely accurate and requires confirmation.
