Minutes Safe Grad Meeting May 2, 2005

 

Attendance - Kaitlin Bryck, Terrie Capovilla, Linda Dahmer, Lauren Dahmer, Terry Gadd, Val Gamble, Donna Gereben, Nikki Hackman, Elizabeth Laidlaw, Vonnie Major, Katherine Ollerhead, Destiny Pollock, Marlene Ryan, Cheryl Scheibler, Jane Tanner, Karen Thain, Lorraine Wyder, Holly Yurick, Christy Scime, Mary Helie

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with approximately 20 people attending.

 

Entertainment: Heather not present, will be contacted to ensure all is in order. Games and DJ have been sent their deposit cheques.

 

Food: Jane reported that commitments for food donations are on tract and much the same as last year.

Treasurer: Vonnie says the money is slowly trickling in and we should be OK. Weyerhaeuser sent a cheque for $2500.00.

 

Prize Patrol: committee is just getting geared up to start shopping. Donna will get number of grads from Scott so we have a starting point.

 

Decorating: Committee is meeting twice a week now. Decorations are in a different store room now

 

Volunteer Co-ordinator: Terri says things are slowly coming together and she will start contacting people.

 

Designated Driving: Val is concerned that there will be no drivers for

upcoming summer bookings. Announcement will be made with this in mind. Have raised about $2800.00 this year. Limits for driving area are usually east to Airport Road, west to Johnson Road, north to Aberjade Trailer Park and south to 502. So give and take is used and Val said only adults do any driving any further out.

 

Misc

  • Concern was expressed that not enough people know about Safe Grad, grad points and how to be involved. Letters will be written to the paper and to be handed out with report cards.
  • Next year's Coffee House is Feb. 18, 2006. Will get the Ag Center for same price.
  • Plans were discussed for the Grand march and how to deal with the possible conflict with the Walleye Masters. Grand march will start at 8:00 p.m. Grads are to be back by 7:30 in preparation and issue of where to line them up will be discussed and decided on as the date gets nearer. Probably through the foyer and up into pool area.
  • Money packages and supplies will be checked and additional ones will be made up if needed. Walk of Fame will be announced again and talked about at grad assembly by Donna. No complete list of grads is available until the ceremony.
  • Bag Check will the night before only from 6 to 9. Proper bags and medication in original containers only will be accepted. Police will be contacted to do walk through during the evening. We must remember to sweep the area before the grads come back in for the dance.
  • Photo sheets and sign in sheet will be in the office shortly.
  • Fund raising was discussed with possible new ideas needed for upcoming
  • years.
  • Car washes, bake sales, BBQ, round up days, donation cans and a meat sale through Fresh Cut Foods from Winnipeg were discussed and
  • shelved till next fall. A tag day being organized by Christie Scime. Hat Day money from Student Council should be coming soon.
  • Meetings will be bi-weekly until Safe Grad. Next meetings will be May 15 and 30.

 

Donna will pull together lists and letters for Safe Grad for next meeting.
