Committee Update Reports
Decorating –
Still meeting weekly. Noted by Donna that there
may be a conflict with the staging and the Walleye masters. Committee to
measure what they think they will need and let DRC know so the proper amount
can be put aside for the grand march. Also reminded that
Decorating is responsible for setting up smoking area out back.
Coffee house – Ruth has a report
but not available at this time. Profits were lower and may be a couple of
reasons. First no big items or mens items in auction.
Some of the businesses that had donated larger items in the past were not
contacted so will rectify for next year. Also businesses and individuals at
that time were also hit by the donation overflow with the Tsunami, Christmas
etc. Some new ideas such as
different beverage sales such as ice tea for some of the younger
group and the possibility of a real auction. ,
Designated Driver Program – Val not available but reports that driving coming up are The Ag centre
this weekend, Legion for 25 yr club on the 15th, June 4th
for Lobster fest, July 9 and the 23 for weddings. The April 21 and 22 events
have been cancelled. Need drivers for some events. Please call Val if you can
drive.
We are still going
to need the names of summer drivers for Safe grad as most grade 12s will not
likely be available
Entertainment – Heather not available. Vonnie mentioned that none
of the entertainment has been paid for and was expecting that cheques should be
issued ASAP to ensure that they are committed. Also Mike Ebbling of CKDR has
willingly donated his time to be the auctioneer again.
Fund Raising – George presented Vonnie with a cheque for $7000 +
and picture in paper has been arranged with the top 3 volunteer ticket sellers.
Food
– Lots of donation offers coming in the Central, Bulk Zone, Kuppers, Penny’s
for Lunch, McKinstry, IGA, Cappuccinos Robins Donuts, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, PI
restaurant, Tim Horton’s, A&W just to name a few so far. Also Len Swanson
is to be approached about use of the snack bar. A discussion about drinks came
up and it was mentioned that we should see if smaller bottles of water could be
made available due to waste and if the Pizza could be perhaps delivered
earlier.
Prize Patrol / Donations. Total of $3500 so far. Also noted that Weyerhaeuser has a write up about Safe Grad in its
latest news letter.
Miscellaneous - Phone volunteers are having a hard time
getting people to commit to phoning. If you can help out with phoning please
call Karen Thain at
937-4588
May
begin to meet biweekly after next meeting to get things finalized.
